SFC2014's main function is the electronic exchange of information concerning shared Fund management between Member States and the European Commission as mainly described in:
Article 74(4) of the Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013 laying down common provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund, the Cohesion Fund, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and laying down general provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund, the Cohesion Fund and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 and in Article 22(5) of Proposal COM (2011) 752 for a Regulation laying down general provisions on the Asylum and Migration Fund and on the instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management.
Consequently, SFC2014 has for objective to be the common Information System to manage jointly with Member States for the period 2014-2020 the following funds of DG REGIO, DG EMPL, DG AGRI, DG MARE and DG HOME:
- European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
- European Social Fund (ESF)
- Cohesion Fund (CF)
- Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD)
- European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD)
- European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF)

- Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) & Internal Security Fund (ISF)
- European Territorial Cooperation (ETC)
- European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF)
- Common Provisions Regulation (CPR)
